Be Mindful of the Wise (Guidance for the Young)

Proverbs 3:1-4

My son, do not forget my law,

But let your heart keep my commands;

For length of days and long life

And peace they will add to you.

Let not mercy and truth forsake you;

Bind them around your neck,

Write them on the tablet of your heart,

And so find favor and high esteem

In the sight of God and man.

Sink or Swim? Your Choice.

FIRST watch this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vz4xHW8_6k

Close Your eyes, Imagine this...You are on the Titanic, and its getting ready to seep into the dark, cold ocean. Put yourself in the middle of hundreds of people running around franticly. They are running because they are trying to figure out a way to survive. Fear is in everyones eyes as the ship continues to sink and flood. People are falling off into the freezing cold waters.
How do you feel? Do you sense urgency? Do you feel panic and fear?

Do you realize that we ARE in the midst of chaos and disaster? It may not seem as intense as the sinking of the titanic, BUT IT IS! Everyone around you, including yourself, is going to die. Whether it is tomorrow or 50 years from now. SINCE everyone is going to die that means they are either going to Heaven or Hell. A good chunk of people around you are probably going to Hell because they dont know the Truth of Jesus' love!
SO, do you sense it? DO you sense the urgency here? As Christians, we are tools for getting people into the Kingdom of Christ. We need to make our time here meaningful in a way where we are used by God to help others off the path of destruction.

U- YOU are a necessary tool to furthering the Kingdom of Christ

R-rescue others from the path of destruction

G-Give the Gospel

E-eternity is at stake!

N-nothing will save us but the blood of Christ

T-take every opportunity you have to tell people about what they need to survive

If you knew you were going to die in the next 30 minutes, what are some of the things you would do? In the movie Titanic, some people played music for comfort, some tried leading others to Christ, others worried about their riches getting lost....Thinking about this could tell alot about who you are as a person.

Ever wonder how to make the most of life? This is how...

Take great value in what Gods Word says...

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." Eccl.9:10

"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." Romans 12:11

"We shall have all eternity in which to celebrate our victories, but we have only one swift hour before the sunset in which to win them." --Robert Moffat (missionary to Africa, Father in law to David Livingstone

Money ≠ Preservation

Ecclesiastes 7:12
Wisdom is a shelter
as money is a shelter,
but the advantage of knowledge is this:
Wisdom preserves those who have it.
We live in a country where, in comparison to the rest of the world, most of us (if not all of us) are considered rich. In some ways, there's nothing wrong with that. Scripture tells us that money is a wonderful blessing. Even after the blunt verse above was written, the teacher goes on to say that, "Money is the answer for everything" (10:19) - a bit of an overstatement, maybe...it gets the point across.
The fact of the matter is that money can be a gigantic blessing for the purpose of giving. Money can also be the most deadliest of tools. Why? The teacher tells us in 7:12 that while money is good and dandy, it's wisdom that will preserve us. So what does that tell us? Money does not preserve!
As we live in a country full of some of the wealthiest people on the planet, it seems that money does indeed assume the position of preservation. We even have an "American Dream" that tells others it's all about making up to the top of the economical ladder! For us Christians, this is indeed the most dangerous thing as we may find ourselves preaching a gospel of prosperity and wealth - "that God will finically bless you just as He has me if only you believe in Him". BUT, this set people up for destruction.
Below is a video of pastor John Piper's view of the prosperity gospel:

Although money is good and it can and will provide shelter, security, and happiness, it will only be momentary. Wisdom - fear of the LORD - is what preserves us.

The Calculations of Life without You

Analyze ash, lava, and magma
The criminal compositions of nature
That creates change in nature
This change creates room for growth in nature
This is the life’s calculation of nature
Not saying that God has no hold on nature
But believe that evolution produces offspring
That inherits the original creation
This is the calculation of nature!

Analyze a boy and a girl
Analyze a boy standing in front of a girl
Analyzing
New combination of emotions can increase
By him standing there
His heart seeks to analyze this new eruption of emotions
He’s the sand and she’s the ocean
So opposites attract
So she attacks his emotions
Like the oceans stealing the sand away with her waves
Causing the sand to break away
’Cause after a female is done with a man
He is broken in so many ways
His calculation is no more him
Meaning he doesn’t understand the meaning of him
So he gives all his love away to the endless ocean
The one that takes in everyone
He’s blended by his emotions
This is the calculation of his emotions!

Mister professional,
This is the calculation of your profession.
Your career nor job doesn’t calculate your profession
You were created with one profession
Worship is your profession
So, accept the truth about you
Remember the word of God goes on without you
“So your education is meaningless”
Without “Yahweh”
This is the calculation of Life with you!

Ecclesiastes 1
Everything Is Meaningless
1 The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem:
2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!”
 says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
 Everything is meaningless.”
3 What do people gain from all their labors
at which they toil under the sun?

4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

Death Is Only The Beginning

Pippin: I didn't think it would end this way.
Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path... One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it.
Pippin: What? Gandalf?... See what?
Gandalf: White shores... and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: [smiling] Well, that isn't so bad.
Gandalf: [softly] No... No it isn't.

Proverbs 12:28 (English Standard Version)

and in its pathway there is no death.

Death is only the beginning of a much longer life in heaven. A life free of pain and sorrow. Those who die before us are saved from the sadness in life and get to start their new life filled with love, happiness and light. No matter the trials and tribulations in life in the end is a new beginning, and in heaven there is only goodness and mercy forever.

Who Do you love.... no really, who?

Who do you love?

The month of February brings Valentines Day, the one day out of the year set aside to honor the person you love. Most couples can be seen on February 14th canoodling as the guy shells out money to show his affection on this very important. day. In an article found on CNN.com in 2007, men on average spend over $150 to show their love and affection just on that day alone. Does this one time offering sustain their relationship until the next time valentines day comes around? NO. Of course not. Once the love runs dry, what is holding them together?

Have you ever been in a dark place where you seem to not be able to hold on to anything? Has something happened in your life that has caused you to hit rock bottom? What do you hold on to? What keeps you from sinking? Where does your love, your trust, and your adoration lie?

If we tie ourselves to the world, what happens when things get untangled? What happens when a cord snaps or breaks loose? What are we holding on to?

Love. It's more than just a four letter word. It's more than just a holiday. It's more than just something you do once a year... or once a week. Loving God is more than just going to church and more than giving him money. He doesn't need our money. He doesn't need us.

Don't lose sight. God wants us. He loves us. He enjoys us. He draws us in. He is accessible to us. He relates to us.

So why then, do we tie ourselves up with things that do not last like God does?

9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
   two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

- Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Tie yourselves to the Lord. He will sustain you. He will pick you up. His bank account NEVER runs dry. His love NEVER runs dry. His mercy NEVER runs dry.

So, who do you love?
